Rodents

Rodents are a headache for every property owner who encounters them. Their treatment must be immediate and effective as they multiply at a rapid rate. Depending on the place, we meet different types of rodents as each one has different needs and preferences.

In our country we will meet several species of rodents. But the most common ones are:

Roof rats – Black rat / Rattus rattus

Ceiling rats or "black rats", as their name suggests, can range in color from black to light brown with a difference only in the belly which is usually gray in color. Their size ranges from 15 to 20cm. Their tail length is always longer than their body and they have excellent climbing ability.

They are often found in places raised from the ground. They mainly prefer industrial areas where they can find plenty of food as well as protection.

For their food they choose fruits of all kinds, fruits and plants. However, they will not hesitate to consume anything in order to survive. Water is their daily need and they mainly get it from their food.

Their reproduction takes place all year round with an emphasis on spring and autumn. Their average lifespan is 2-3 years. In each litter, they give birth to 5-8 young which 3 months later are also capable of reproduction. This particular species of rat is nocturnal

House mice / Mus musculus

House mice are the most common rodent species. They are small in size and gray brown in color with a gray or yellowish belly. They have a slightly pointed nose and have black eyes that slightly protrude. Their ears are large and have some fluff.

Their life expectancy can even reach 2 years if the living conditions are favorable. 20 days after mating the female mouse usually gives birth to 5-6 young. These in turn in 6 to 10 weeks are capable of reproduction. So we understand that this is also the reason for their rapid spread. Therefore, as soon as they are detected in a certain area, they need to be dealt with immediately with the appropriate methods.

This particular type of mice is found mainly in houses and farms, but also in places such as shopping centers etc.)

Their main food is plant seeds and fatty and sugary foods. Another characteristic of them is that they destroy quite a lot of food even if they don't consume it as they "like" to taste everything that is available.

Brown rats / Rattus norvegicus

Brown rats are stout with a pointed nose, small ears and a hairless tail shorter than their body. They are brownish gray or red in color on the upper part of the body and white, gray on the belly. Adult rats weigh about 500 grams. Their comparative advantage is their acute sense of smell and hearing

Their life expectancy is up to 3 years if the conditions they live in are favorable. Females give birth to 6 to 12 cubs. Hatchlings at 3-4 weeks live independently and are ready and capable of breeding at the latest at 3 months

Although nocturnal, this particular species will also be seen moving during the day, especially in large cities. They live very close to humans and usually build their nests in basements and lower levels of buildings.
To combat rodents, it is done by using traps or by chemical controls with special poisonous rodent baits.

The specialized staff of Biodynamics always uses certified and safe chemical preparations strictly following the manufacturer's safety data sheets and approvals.
